Rail Journey
I absolutely love train journeys. Most people would disagree with me. Who travels through rail when there are flight services? I am one of those few people who likes a long train journey. A train journey gives you time to ponder of things while looking out of through the window. Something you might see triggers a past incident good or bad. One of my favourite routes to travel is between Mumbai and Pune. My god, the view during the travel is mesmerising to say the least. As your coach passes through Khandala and Lonavala, you understand what people mean when they say nature is beautiful. The numerous tunnels you go through just makes the journey more enjoyable. The monsoon season is the best time to make this journey atleast once. As the train runs on the tracks with hills on one side and dangerous cliff on other, you can see the beautiful waterfalls most of the times. As scenic as this sounds, when you realise the tracks are laid very close to the cliff edge an eerie runs down your spine and it almosts feels like a dangerous adventure. The view of the brigdes along the way especially the old ones as if they are holding the peaks together is beautiful. Add to that the various colours of the sky when your pass through the mountain ranges, you get a photographic scene. I would certainly not recommend it but standing at the door of the coach with the wind hitting you on the face and watching the train moving through the nature is nothing short of bliss. You might not like train travel but you must travel this route atleast once and you will surely thank me!!!
