The Myth of Spirituality

Everyone we know today is trying to be spiritual in some way or is at least talking about spirituality. Here in this article, I will try to vomit something out of my head about whatever little I know about spirituality in this hangover of last nights Scotch.

I was having a casual conversation with one of my friend about spirituality and suddenly I noticed that he referred to spirituality as the path to achieve peace in life. I thought over it and it bothered me a lot that how fewer people know about spirituality and how less of it they think about it, how underrated spirituality is.
Talking about peace, peace is a necessity and not the ultimate goal to achieve in life. It is so disturbing to learn how people have demeaned their lives that they need to keep the peace as their ultimate goal. Say you are disturbed because of some incident that happened this morning, will you be able to enjoy the food, ride, jokes, weather, family, sex, etc throughout the day? No, right. That means peace is the bare minimum condition to even live life. If you not at peace, you are barely even living.
                           Here is an example to understand what peace is. Say you are going on a road trip to a particular destination. So unlike the popular belief that peace is the destination of this road trip called life, rather peace is the mere petrol that your vehicle needs to even move a meter ahead in its path. Peace cannot be and must not be the ultimate goal of spirituality.
So what exactly spirituality is? I am no expert on this topic but I will try to explain it with this simple way. Say you purchase a small machine, say a Bluetooth speaker. Upon purchasing you read all sorts of user manuals to set it up, we watch youtube videos to learn to operate it, and we do various other things to know more about how to operate the device well and what are all the other hidden features of the device. I believe the Human Body is the most advanced complicated machine that is built by nature. Did we ever bother to read its User Manual? Did we ever try to know the hidden features of this epitome of a machine? On a very rudimentary level, this process of discovering the user manual for this human consciousness is spirituality.
                          Now if we go to advance stages, then the spirituality can be a tool to achieve the infinite. I will try to explain this to you with some simple examples. If we take a compressed gas and leave it into a big hall, it expands. It tries to take the largest shape it can. Similarly, now we know that the universe that we live is also constantly expanding into the infinity. Suppose there is a very powerful leader, and he concurs the whole of Asia. Will he be satisfied and concent by this achievement? No, he will try to counter the rest of the continents. Once the whole of the Earth is concerned, he would look for the solar system, and maybe then for the galaxy and universe. This shows us that it is the very nature of any matter to expand and liberate itself. Everything including humans and life wants to expand themselves and this expansion will only take place when you are liberated from the cycle of life.
Say you are 22 years old, that basically means you have been 22 times around the sun. This is called the cycle of life and our life is trapped in this cyclic process. To expand, we need to break this cycle and liberate our life. This process of breaking this cyclic process is called libration. This what is the ultimate goal of spirituality, it is a mere tool to achieve liberation.
Now when I talk about life, it is important for us to understand what basically I mean by it. The whole of this cosmos is made up of some form of energies, some discovered and some not discovered. Our human body is just a shell in which the energy from this cosmos is trapped for a limited period of time. When we die this energy is released into the cosmos again. This energy is what I refer to as life. Many call it soul and stuff, but I personally think that the word soul is too contaminated in modern times, so I restrain myself from using that word. So when I talk about the expansion of life by libration, I talk about the expansion of this life energy to infinity.
This libration and expansion can be achieved my spirituality. Of course, it sounds very complicated and confusing at the beginning or maybe I am not able to convey the message properly, but all of this knowledge is well documented and described in detail in the texts of Sanatana dharma since thousands of years.
